PACKING PRECISELY

How to pack for everything the holidays are about to throw at you.

Packing for the winter holidays is nothing like packing for a summer vacation to St. Barts. There is layering on top of packing for casual days at home but dressy days for Christmas services or New Year's Eve parties. Before you get into the what you are going to where, let's begin with how you're going to get it there.

I always like to start with putting the clothes into my suitcase first. Most of the items you should be able to roll instead of fold. It's much more space efficient and actually wrinkles less in many cases. Once I have my clothes in, I align the sides of the suitcase with my shoes, stacking them so the soles don't touch the clothing. Place your dopp kit on top in the remaining space, as it's the last thing you pack so you can still use your bathroom supplies and it's the first thing you take out.

Always place a dryer sheet or two in the bag as well, as it will keep the bag smelling great and your clothes smelly clean. I also recommend the Brooks Brothers Non-Iron shirt for traveling, the extra-slim fit is perfect for me. A great Rimowa bag is great for the 360 wheels and the sturdy exterior case. And when it comes to leather, Smython is always your best bet.

     Safe travels and Happy Holidays!
