When the lights go out at a show and turn on to the sound of the music it distracts us from thinking of the craziness of what is happening backstage. If everything happens seamlessly on the stage, it most likely means everything is happening chaotically backstage. The easiness and sameness of a runway show can make us numb to the fact that so many people are doing so many things to make all of that happen. Backstage photographs interest me because I feel like it reflects the designers process. Is it crazy? Is it calm? Are the models happy? Do they look like they'd rather be somewhere else? It says a lot about the mood the designer and their team creates.
The Calvin Klein Spring / Summer 2013 runway show was a success in many peoples eyes, however the backstage photos seem to have my attention right now. I love seeing how the preparation happens, and was happy to see how much fun the models looked like they were having.
