CFDA Gentlemen

The other night was one of fashion's biggest nights. The CFDA Awards event has all of the fashion of the Met Gala with all of the awards of the Grammies. A special congratulations is in order for Mr. Billy Reid who took home Menswear Designer of the Year, and the Olsen twins who won Womenswear Designer of the Year.
There were four gentlemen who really stood out to me, and should be given awards themselves just for the outfit they showed up in. Thom Browne, as per usual, showed up in a fantastically tailored suit, the usual cropped pants, and sharp black brogues. He is the epitome of the modern man. Next would be Steven Kolb, the CEO of the CFDAs. His constant support of everyone in the fashion industry, and his undesired need to be in the spotlight, makes him the perfect charming gentlemen. I met him a few weeks back when Mrs. Von Furstenberg came to speak at the Fashion Institute of Technology. After she finished speaking, students crowded around her and I spotted Steven on the back wall smiling at how the students admired her. I introduced myself and by that conversation alone I can honestly tell he cares about what we does. Those red glasses
Prabal Gurung was another who just looked impeccably sharp. The crisp black suit was definitely the right choice for him that night. Fashion men always know how to wear a pocket square properly, and leave it peaking out just enough for the white and black to contrast each other. Lastly, Francisco Costa was another one to add to the list of dapperly dressed men of the night. The grey suit was a nice break from all of the black suits, but my favorite were the loafers. For me he really mastered dressing-up while still looking for comfortable.
