The menswear industry made its way down to the Chelsea Arts Tower last night for the Dockers Spring 2012 preview. Though the weather was a bit gross out, it was nothing that a coat and umbrella check couldn't fix. Following the coat check, people hopped on the elevator and made their way up to the 21st floor. As the elevator climbed higher, you could hear the faint sound of music begin to grow louder. As the elevator doors opened you were greeted by a DJ, a bar, and of course the Spring 2012 collection.
Pants in different shades of colors were worn by male models who were scattered across the room and stood upon a small wooden construction. The models, which are typically quiet and motionless, were in full conversation and moving freely. As they conversed amongst each other, gesturing with their hands, it felt like I was watching real men interacting and dressed how they would in the real world. The styling from literally top to bottom (baseball caps all the way to shoes paired with socks) was spot on and you could envision wearing a similar outfit. As I made my way out to pick up my umbrella and coat, I was asked my pant size and given a pair of Dockers. It is nice to know a brand appreciates the people who embrace them, as it also nice to know there are now a group of men who will all be wearing our new khakis.
